The problem with this response is that it doesn't respond in any
way to what we are saying. In fact, it just confirms what we are saying.
The attitude seems to be "tough".
It's a sad day when one of your resellers and major developers leaves
due to lack of support. It's said when other big-name developers leave
for the same reason. That's 4 major developers that we know saying
they are leaving for the same reasons. That's not scare mongering --
there's meaningful feedback there.
The fact that you, Phil, have this apparent attitude, seems to me to
really represent a blind spot. This is especially true if your post was
meant to be off-list and you weren't planning on responding publicly
at all. I guess you were going to just wait until it "blew over". In a
way, it would blow over in the sense that people wouldn't talk about it
so much. However, many developers would be quietly making plans
to switching. I'm not saying this to be a scare mongerer. We wouldn't
have even known about the people who were leaving if Gene hadn't
asked his question. Do you really think that some people wouldn't be
turned off by the lack of apparent caring?
This is SO frustrating for me. I'm a happy camper as far as the product
goes. I am actually a big developer myself. I have built very large intranet
applications that don't show up on my portfolio page since there is
nothing for the public to see. I am not disgruntled with the product.
I am disgruntled with the lack of communication. It's as if we don't matter.
You say that you are damned if you respond and damned if you don't. I can
easily see how you are damned if you don't. I can't imagine how you would
be damned if you do respond (unless you are pretty sure we won't like
your response).
Here are a couple of straight-foward questions:
Are you planning on completing the documentation? If so, when? Are you
planning on fixing the bugs in the studio? If so, when? Will you provide
support where documentation is lacking?
Can we at least have an answer to these questions? I don't that that is
too much to ask. It would be a start.
Thank you,
Stefan

Quinn,
Oh the beauty of free speech - anyone can say anything about anyone
whether it is based on fact or in the case of a few of the posts -
not. I am always being asked to say something on topics like this
publicly but I am dammed if I do and dammed if I don't. It is near
impossible to rebut any of the statement that any disgruntled person
says without it turning into a slanging match so I take the view that
topics like this just have to run their course on the list. So
thanks for illuminating the flip side of the argument. You are
basically representing the 1500+ lurkers on the list. It is the
positive support, assistance and understanding that we get from
people like Robert and yourself that makes it all worthwhile.
After this thread has run its course and the scare mongering has
subsided, my team and I will still be here to continue to support
you, Tronics and the several thousand other customers (large, medium
and small) who feel the same way about Witango and continue to use it.
PS ok phil now fix that TCF thing :-P just kiddin all, I mean what
I wrote.
I think we have. The engineers are just doing some tidying up before
packaging a new build up for him to test as I write this. We have
run the 014 build through QA and it is has been running the
witango.com site for the past 2 days. It has only been around 40 000
page impressions but we have not had any issues with it.
Kind Regards
Phil
