I think a blog is a loose term, but most have come to use in in
certain ways. And a blog with rss feed capabilities, is par for the
course.

There is more involved in a blog than just posting stories and
accepting
visitor comments. It has to support XML data that is both outgoing
(feeds,
comments and directories) and incoming (trackbacks), and the
"standard" for
the XML is constantly evolving, so as a developer you have to be
prepared to
keep up. Not to mention there is more than one standard, i.e., RSS
and Atom.
Is RSS and XML part of the BLOG definition? What is the purpose of
these
standards in this implementation?
Either way, I can't see how either clients needs could be served by
developing to these standards. But it would be nice to know why
they are
part of the definition.
