I thought I had a really simple solution but at the moment it doesn't
work. My theory was that the registry remapping would capture running
"regedit /s data.reg" but it doesn't seem to. There are no APIs to read
a reg file that I can find. I suspect the remapping will only work in
process.
My next attempt is to process the file line by line either using the
tallow code or with some code I have written before.
I will keep working on this but if you get a solution could you let me
know.
Thanks
Neil

Subject: Re: [WiX-devs] Harvesting a registry file
There could be a relatively simple way to handle this issue using what
is already in place. I am on the hook to try and fix a couple bugs, I
will look at this too for the 3.5 date.

A common request in the mail list seems to be the lack of support for
harvesting a registry file in the same way that tallow did. I think I
can add this to heat fairly easily because most of the code for
generating the fragment is already in heat. My question is would this be
accepted in to the main WiX 3 code base or should I write it as an
extension and publish if via my blog or some other means?
It seems like a good idea; just realize that WiX v3.5 is heading toward
lockdown so timing is tight.
