As noted on another part of this thread, we really shouldn’t be changing the
name of the MSI files and need to reintroduce the .zip file to get around the
limitations of MSI names.
And yes we should provide good examples to follow… I’m sorry we made a mistake.

If an upgrade isn't supported then what happened when I renamed the file and it
"just worked" ?
I think that the msi files provided with WiX itself should be good examples to
follow... but perhaps they aren't.

the new one. At least that worked for me. An upgrade wasn't supported
