Thanks for the reply, Bob. Do you have a reference to the full set of tables/properties/etc that needs to be in a .msp. Thus far, all I have for comparison is an .msp produced with a trial version of InstallShield Pro that does work -- so I am fairly sure I have satisfied the patching requirements. We can see that we are producing the same 2 tables (MsiPatchMetaData and PatchSequence) -- when opened in Orca. Strangely, Orca does not appear to contain any reference to the new exe itself (yet the .msp is nearly 3 MB - about right and about the same as the msp produced from IS).
Any suggestions or pointers anyone has will be happily tested. Is there anything better than Orca to examine the msi/msp's?
