Hi Rodolfo,

thanks a lot for your invaluable remarks! They are very welcome! :)

While you are absolutely right with all your comments, please just
consider my attempt as a rough draft to create an actually working
WMaker Live CD. If this thing is expected to go somewhere in the
future, i guess it should be started from scratch in a much cleaner
implementation, in order to clean up the current mess it is now. Just
consider this mess as a draft and a means for creative brainstorming.

Your joke regarding my distribution choice is well received from my
side: I would have preferred to rather base this on Debian, which is
my favorite distribution since more than 15 years, especially since i
was affiliated with Debian being the principal author of the
localepurge package (see packages.debian.org/sid/localepurge). But the
existing Ubuntu Live CD provided a much easier and faster means to the
end.

The available Ubuntu options made it much easier way to create a
WMaker Live CD without needing to start from scratch. The main
component in this endeavor is not really my lamentable scripting
attempts, but rather the nice UCK utility, without which all this
would have been out of reach of my own technical possibilities. In
fact, for me, Ubuntu is just another Debian variation, and i would
much prefer to base this project on standard Debian in the future.

The packages included in wmlive-extra could actually be omitted, but
as these are not part of the upstream Ubuntu repositories, i have
included them for my own ISO creation convenience. This could probably
be easily replaced by switching to another up to date wmaker debian
repository like Martin's or maybe even debian/testing (if dependencies
don't get in the way).

The archive wmlive-data is a mixed beast, as it is composed of various
preconfigurations for different programs (gnome, firefox plus addons,
thunderbird plus addons, mc, etc.), which i prefer to be done already
in advance for my very own selfish practical requirements, and all
those icons which are expected by the supplied wmaker configuration.
In the long run, this should go into an external package, and the
wmaker preconfiguration should be limited to a well defined icon set
of the actually required pixmaps. This would also help to reduce
storage requirements of the ISO image contents.

Yes, all the /usr/local and config stuff should eventually be merged
into and managed with a proper Debian package, but this is something
still left for the future.

Up until now, not a single person seems to have bothered to download
one of the ISO images i provide via bittorrent. It would be nice if
some people could download and actually run it, in order to see and
understand what my humble attempts actually try to accomplish.

Only real seeing is true believing. ;)

Thanks a lot!
Paul
