Hello all,

just can't believe that i've managed to invest so much time into this
little project of mine! I have done at least ten more "releases" of this
script package in the meantime, along with freshly created ISO images.
Nobody ever saw them, lest downloaded any of these, because it all
happened in pretty rapid succession. For me, the result has already
become much better than i thought that it would ever be.

I have just finished updating the wmlive-create archive and the ISO
torrents on my website with version 0.55. Unless someone else proves me
shamefully wrong, the live experience of the WMLive system appears to be
pretty mature now. Get it while it's hot, and try it out for yourself!

Lots of things have changed since my last update here:

The ISO's have been stripped of even more specialty packages, and has at
the same time been updated to the current release version 10 of both
Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, along with some very convenient
pre-installed addons. The overall image size of the ISO's is now under
600 MB. The WMLive CD's can be used for normal installation of a Linux
system, albeit based on a default WindowMaker experience - no other
desktop environment is present on the disks.

One big difference is the fact, that i have re-added a few of the
formerly eliminated language packages, so that the system is not
English-only anymore. It can now be operate also in French, German,
Portuguese, and Spanish, with English staying to be the default.

In fact, i prepared all these ISO's so far only on WMLive systems
running in a KVM virtual machine, which were regularly installed from
one of its former incarnations. As you can imagine, this results in some
pretty good basic stress testing. On the other hand, the already
existing Ubuntu basis is naturally already pretty solid in itself, so
WMLive is probably not really rocket science either.

I have also stripped down and reworked a bit the webpage content at
www.rumbero.org/wmlive so that the information should have become
slightly more intelligible and useful.

Up until now there was only a single download of the i386 ISO version,
which apparently was completed by someone from Brazil. I would be very
happy if more people would risk a download and try some test runs.

I would like to propose this project as a probably rather hassle-free
basis for an official WindowMaker Live CD, in order to showcase how user
friendly, practical and attractive a WindowMaker desktop is.

Please have a closer look at this idea and think a little bit about it.
Like Rodolfo already indirectly proposed, it would be nice if all this
stuff could be made an integral part of the WindowMaker project. It
would be a pity if all this would just stay being a little pointless
private hobby of mine.

As before, any thoughts and feedback are very welcome!

Thanks a lot!

Paul *8^)
