Have you tried PCManFM? I think it's the default file manager of LXDE.
Has good looks and its very light too (like all of LXDE apps).

For 'managing' perhaps, but when you just want to browse, I prefer more
visual interface (thumbnails, previews, open with different apps, etc...)

Does anyone really use GWorkspace on a regular basis?
