Yes, i did test it. But since Window Maker Live also contains a fair
share of XFCE components, thunar was the better choice, as it is better
integrated with these. Also, pcmanfm seems to be not very actively
maintained by the upstream maintainer, unlike thunar.

Even for this i much prefer mc, as no mouse handling is required.
But this is just a matter of personal preference, and definitly of no
real importance.

Does anyone use anything from GNUstep on a regular basis?

Strangely enough, GWorkspace doesn't feel to be well integrated with
Window Maker from a user's point of view. I was considering it for the
project, but the competitors from the Gnome and XFCE areas are so much
more useful. I know, it is a pity.

Regarding GNUstep: They are "almost there" since already a few years,
but the intended goal appears to move away much faster than the current
development speed can afford. If i am not completely mistaken, there
doesn't appear to be much happening on the GNUstep side, but i do hope
that my estimation of their status is plain wrong.

Please better use wmaker-user for any such discussions, as this is not
really specific to the development of Window Maker itself. While both
are closely related, the Window Maker Live distribution project and the
Window Maker window manager are two separate projects with different
areas of activities.

Regards,

Paul
