Speaking of fixed in newer kernels, does writing to ctl files work there?
In 2.6.23, I get EPERM/EACCES:

~/n/wmii; echo -n view p9 >ctl
zsh: operation not permitted: ctl
~/n/wmii; echo -n view p9 >>ctl
zsh: permission denied: ctl

I wish I could say. I had v9fs working for all of a week, before I installed a new kernel, and it stopped. It seems a lost cause.

We all agree on the necessity of compromise. We just can't agree on
when it's necessary to compromise.
