I noticed some new colmode syntax in wmii-hg:

 default-max   (was: default)
 stack-max     (was: stack)
 stack+max     (was: max)

What is the rationale behind this change?
To support arbitrary combinations of colmodes?

IMHO, this change introduces needlessly complexity;
the old, single-word colmodes were sufficent.

They weren't. default+max allows for stacking with extra titlebars in the stacks to be hidden. stack+max forces all extra clients into the stack. Also, max has different meanings for the floating layer (try it).

Lisp has jokingly been called "the most intelligent way to misuse a
computer". I think that description is a great compliment because it
transmits the full flavor of liberation: it has assisted a number of
our most gifted fellow humans in thinking previously impossible
thoughts.
