Follow-up Comment #13, task #5485 (project wormux):

Ok, for pango+cairo, which also allows nice font rendering (italic, color and
so on as one of yannig's tests showed), we have for ubuntu dependencies:
  Depends: libpango1.0-common
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libcairo2
  Depends: libdatrie0
  Depends: libfontconfig1
  Depends: libfreetype6
  Depends: libglib2.0-0
  Depends: libthai0
  Depends: libx11-6
  Depends: libxft2
  Depends: libxrender1
  Depends: zlib1g
Only libglib2, libpango1.0-common and libthai0 may be unusual on some
systems.

For windows:
libglib-2.0-0.dll
libgmodule-2.0-0.dll
libgobject-2.0-0.dll
libcairo-2.dll
libpangocairo-1.0-0.dll
libpango-1.0-0.dll
libpangoft2-1.0-0.dll
libpangowin32-1.0-0.dll
libfontconfig-1.dll
libfreetype-6.dll

Not that extravagant either.

SDL_pango on the other hand may not be packaged by some distrib (it is at
least for ubuntu, package libsdl-pango1 which has quite fewer dependencies).
There are binary packages for windows, but the description about its
packaging is not very cheerful.
