that crash worship show at the madrona winery in portland was also one of
the many times i'm sure i "ran into" lanny before i ever "met" him.
unfortunately, i got there right after crash worship was done performing.
i did however catch the first ever show by "transparent thing" that night,
made up of spike and megan from "swoon 23". i just saw spike for the
first time in about 8 years when i saw him playing guitar on tour with
black rebel motor cycle club last year. i do miss the portland of the mid
to late 90s. it's insane how many great shows i saw in tiny little
venues in portland. the club la luna had a non-stop string of brilliant
shows: bjork, pj harvey, tricky, the orb, meat beat manifesto, the
legendary pink dots, pavement, mazzy star, spiritualized, rapoon, and a
ton more that i can't even think of. oh, i do so miss la luna and
satyricon and EJs (which is shamefully now a pawn shop), and the stage 4
theatre (unlicenced booze, yay!). those were some great times!
