TheVLBG,
Answer #1: What exactly is your question? Could you be more specific?
Answer #2: The Root Directory is the first directory on a drive (or
partition of a drive.) On a DOS or Windows system, C:\ is the Root
Directory on the C: drive. C:\Windows refers to the Windows directory which
is located in the Root Directory.
The Root Directory is limited in the number of files it can contain. The
only files one should find in the Root Directory are system files and other
directories.
It is therefore advisable to create a new directory for different categories
of data. For example, you might create the directory C:\MySite to store
your web site files.
Have I answered your question? Have I gone on far too long??
Jim

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] FTP Site
All:
Forgive my lack of understanding. I have an older version of WS-FTP but
have
only used it occasionally, and long in the past.
Want to get in on this deal but am totally lost. Have been paying for an
unlimited
Web Hosting for about a year but all I've got out of it is criticism for
putting
things in the wrong directories.
Question #1: How about using it as a FTP site with user ID and password
access?
Question #2: I'm anticipating here; what is the "Root Directory"?
Would like to buy the new product but don't want to get into just another
frustration.
Thank you,
TheVLBG
