How about a firewall? FTP actually works on two ports: 20 and 21. Port 20 is used only as a command channel and 21 is used for the actual data stream. Most firewalls are intelligent enough to allow traffic through both ports using the FTP protocol even if only one port is specified.
>The FTP clients can get through and logon, after that they get no list of folders >nor are they able to upload or download. No matter what port I use. When I do >change it port 21 everything works fine. What you describe sounds like a firewall is allowing command traffic to pass through unobstructed via port 20 but won't allow data traffic back out through the other. If there is a firewall, try and set it up to allow traffic using FTP protocol over both port 20 and your specified port. Chazzozz!!
