Norm,

I've been using IIS 4 and IIS 5 for a few years and I don't think there
is another way to store ftp users in NT - that's the way I've done it
when I had to. NT's ftp service is widely known to be unsecure. MS has
never put many resources into developing it. I'm not a Microsoft basher
(usually) but I do avoid using IIS ftp server.

Just out of curiosity (a little off topic), but in NT, is there a way
to store FTP users any other way than through NT User accounts? I'm
not familiar with all the security issues, but forcing me to use NT
user accounts just to run a standard FTP-enabled/web hosting environment
for ASP users seems a little dangerous.

It also seems to be a little easier to automate the sign-up process for
FTP accounts/web hosting for 1000s of customers in WS_FTP than in
IIS/FTP. Any opinions on this?

And... "please don't throw things".

One reason why would be security - with NT's FTP the username/password
are
transmitted in plain text - with the WS_FTP client/server it's
encrypted.

Hi all,

I have found that to get the real scope on a software solution is to
join
its list ;-)

I am considering going with the server package, have been using the
client
package for some time now.

I am looking for extreme configurations...
what has been pushed through this product.

Why sould I pay for an FTP Server when I got one with NT? (Ok, please
don't
throw things)

Ben
