The commands sent are not typed in by me, but are generated by the WS-FTP program when it does the file transfers after comparing remote and local...
Are you saying that i can "customize" the commands that WSFTP sends?
(for example: use "/" instead of " \" for directories ?)

Just a couple thoughts:
Try complete paths for the CWD commands.
Try forward slashes instead of back slashes.
