I wouldn't even use the firewall that came with XP. Disable it altogether and use either a good firewall like Norton or a hardware (router) based firewall. If you aren't using a router, download or purchase a good firewall. Most will automatically detect legitimate internet access. You shouldn't have to make any adjustments to a software based firewall. If it's hardware based, you may have to open a specific port to allow access.

Thanks,
I disabled my WinXP Pro Firewall, and works wonderful! What do you mean make an adjustment to the firewall? Can I still enable this another way?
Thanks, have a great day!

Check your firewall? Try disabling it. If that works, then you will have to make an adjustment to the firewall. Can you ping the ftp sites?

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] Using Ws_Ftp 7.5 & WinXP Prof
Help,
I just purchased a new Dell 8300 PC, and my OS is WinXP Pro. I installed Ws_Ftp 7.5, and none of the ftp sites work! I can access the Internet just fine, and receive all my email fine; however, none of the ftp sites work, even the default ones that are installed by the software. I access the Internet with a cable modem!
What are the steps I can take to correct this problem?
