Troubleshooting connection error
I've searched the
knowledge base but didn't find anything to address my difficulty.
Here's the situation:
When I open WS FTP and attempt to connect to my web site, I get this message:
"Address lookup of "ftp://www.thecoffeeisland.com"
failed. It may be misspelled, or your computer may not be connected to
the network or Internet.
Also check that your DNS and local name servers are properly configured and
responding."
However, when I open Internet Explorer and initiate an FTP session to this same
address, the connection is successful.
Even though I initiate the session using IE, it opens WS FTP and a window pops
up with a dialogue box for me to enter usr name and password.
This weirdness happens only with that one address.
What I've tried so far:
1. I've checked and re-checked the spelling of all information. It's correct
and it was correct in the first place.
2. In WS FTP, I deleted the Coffee
Island site from the
list, and started over with a new listing. Still not able to connect.
I've done this several times just to make sure all info is correct.
3. I also de-selected browser integration for IE and tried connecting through
WS FTP, but it still won't connect.
Doubtless there is something I have overlooked, but I'm having trouble figuring
out what it is.
Please advise.
