Just for the record: <http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/struct/global.html#edef-H1>

So, is it legal to use more then one H1 on a page?

If your answer is no, I would like to see a reputable reference. I haven't found anything that did convince me not to use more than one H1 tags on a page.

h1 <global section> (logo, slogan, navigation, search etc.)
h1 <actual content section>
h1 <optional section one>
h1 <optional section two>

That is the structure I would like to use. Any thoughts?
