One of the reasons people don't use this is that accessibility checks
require some sort of characters between the links (not just blank
space) to separate them clearly.
Things like pipes ('|') do the job, but they are presentation elements,
rather than content, so standards people want to semantically divide
the links.
One of the ways preferred by many people for this is a list.
