You may need to re-think the mark-up a little. Check this article http://brenelz.com/blog/squish-the-internet-explorer-z-index-bug/ Bug no. 2 add this to your current stylesheet to trigger hasLayout for that element. html #formNav {height: 1%;} If you have a specific IE stylesheet then: #formNav {height: 1%;} Hope this helps.
