Hmmm. That's funny. I then took steps to register it, > and received a new error saying that the application was corrupt. "Registration" is for .NET assemblies and programs using other Microsoft proprietary technologies. KVASD is a simple command line program written in C and Fortran and using the C and Fortran Standard Libraries, as such no registration is required. KVASD requires no elevated privileges to do its job and nothing related to WSJT-X needs administrator rights apart from from a small part of the installation which writes un-install details to the System registry. The installer handles the raising to administrator level itself and should not be run with Administrator rights. > > That was all I needed to see. Installing or un-installing WSJT-X v1.4 does not touch any files that are created during normal operation, there is no need to back up your log files etc. when installing or un-installing WSJT-X. Note that I am not saying backup of log files etc. is unnecessary, that is a very good idea if you don't want to loose important information due to system software or hardware or operator failures, but no specific backup and restore steps are necessary related to installation or un-installation of WSJT-X. I would always recommend backing up important data before installing upgrades and at regular intervals. > > All ran exceptionally well for over 24 hours. This behaviour usually is caused by the program 'jt9.exe', which is part of WSJT-X, not being controlled correctly by WSJT-X. WSJT-X does try and close it down on restart which is why a restart of WSJT-X is resolving the issue. This is the first report I have seen of a particularly strong signal causing program errors. I doubt there is anything specific to the strength of a single signal that would cause such an error. I suppose it might be possible that a very strong signal would have many in band images above the decoding threshold and that multiple identical signals might be triggering an issue. Again multiple images of the same signal normally decode correctly so this too seems unlikely to be the source of the issue. > > These error messages did not have the "-107" but now the pop-up window > exclaiming: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by > another process." returned. > > Will try complete reinstall after complete uninstall.
