I have no idea what a zlp interface is.

If the other program -- I guess that's jt65-hf-hb9hqx? -- can't read a 
wav file, it's impossible to ensure that the decoders in two programs 
are in fact operating on the same data.

WSJT-X does not want "anything better" than 48000 Hz sample rate.  What 
it particularly does NOT want is data that have been sampled (or 
possibly resampled) at some other rate such as 44100 Hz and then 
resampled (maybe again? ) to 48000 Hz.
