Nope...moving them after the allocate didn't do it either.
But, I did just change the lines around line#268 and that fixed it.

 Hi Mike, the shared_data object does not exist until after the allocate 
statement. You are setting the values too early.  Your assignments are in the 
loop that processes the command line options. 73
