The point of my original post was to suggest that #2 is consistent with what
most folks seem to log in contest mode however #1 certainly meets the
requirements of contest logging.

#3 is of no help at all for contest logging except to get rid of a piece of
erroneous information.

I would still vote for #2 (or a check box to decide between #1 and #2) and I
would even be willing to take a crack at implementing it. If you dust of the
credits you’ll even see my call in the contributors list.

Seems to me we have 3 choices (using what info is available and eliminating the
current behavior).

#1 keep the RST_SENT to be the signal report (still accessible in your log and
theirs) but put their grid in RST_RCVD.

#2 Change both fields to grid reports

#3 Simply blank the RST_RCVD field

#3 would be pretty simple to implement.

OK. I get it now. It is better to report a value that was has nothing to do
with the contact made but is just about but not quite completely unlike RST
than it is to report what was actually received.

Every message receive that has a report sets it. So if there's no report it
won't get changed. Ergo...the last report message you got will stick. Does
seem a bit misleading.

Where does Rpt Rcvd that is currently being logged come from when in NA VHF
Contest mode?
