Hi Maurice, it looks like replying to a compound call station will generate new 77-bit messages regardless of the "Settings->Advanced->FT8 message types" settings. This is not inconsistent as the options only force 77-bit messages, i.e. not setting them does not necessarily enforce old style messages. Perhaps that that is unhelpful, especially for holders of such compound callsigns. Unless there is an easy fix I doubt this will be changed since the intention is for everyone to move to the new 77-bit messages for FT8 soon after the General Availability (GA) release of WSJT-X v2.0.0.
