After another visit to the N1MM group I found that, although my configuration works, it it not the best configuration to use. If N1MM is told the TS-590 USB Audio CODEC is an internal radio CODEC then the more intuitive keying option does produce the TX1; command.
To set up N1MM for WSJT-X with a TS-590 ensure that "Internal Radio CODEC" is selected. This selection appears in either Configurer / Audio or in Audio Setup & Monitor / Payback depending on whether Config "Use Logger+ Audio" is enabled or not. When "Internal radio CODEC" is selected then Com / Details can be selected to "PTT via Radio Command Digital Mode" and will produce TX1; keying command. I knew there was a good reason I had been using DATA VOX keying for so long. 73, Andy, k3wyc
