Hi Steve,

I am not exactly sure how to stop it happening, but an HDMI monitor going to a power saving mode causes USB devices to be re-enumerated. That happens without WSJT-X getting any notification, and a selected USB audio device can suddenly become a different device. It may be something to do with HDMI providing a USB capability.
