Not just USB. And, not just with a HDMI connected monitor. I run on a laptop with com0com virtual serial for CAT and VAC for audio. If my laptop goes to sleep, the VAC connection between my SDR and WSJTx breaks in addition to the CAT and my USB GPS receiver. I do have an external HDMI connected monitor, but the sleep problem occurs whether it is connected or not.
To get things working, I have to restart WSJTx and my SDR program (PowerSDR Thetis) to get CAT and Audio. I have to unplug, and plug back in, the GPS receiver for the GPS software to see the receiver - I think the receiver is shows as running normally in Win Device Mngr, but with a different (than the previous) comm port number. BTW, this is another instance where the silly (IMHO) WSJTx “die/close if no radio detected” operation/window is an annoyance. Another is when you want to check a WSJTx setting, or get to a WSJTx log without having to remember where it is, when you don’t have your radio on. Why can not WSJTx stay open running in standby like any other normal program when no radio is connected?
