In the latest version of the QLog program, written so blind hams can use the WSJT-X digital modes, the MSK144 mode was added. When testing MSK144 I discovered that when the MSK144 mode was selected while the radio was still on any HF band, instead of switching to one of the MSK144 VHF/UHF frequencies, the radio remained on the same HF band that my K3 was set to before the mode switch was made.
This means that if the user accidentally called CQ, the transmission would be made on an HF band, where the MSK144 is not legal, in many countries. What should happen is that when the MSK144 mode is selected, the band box should switch to the lowest frequency on the VHF/UHF pulldown menu list and CAT control should switch the radio to that frequency. I hope that this issue can be resolved in the next release of WSJT-X. Thanks. 73, Rich - K1HTV *PS* If you know of any blind or visually impaired Hams who you want to help get started in the world of FT8, FT4 and MSK144, send an email to: *qlogusers+subscr...@groups.io <qlogusers%2bsubscr...@groups.io> * to join the QLog Users Group.
