That could make sense. I usually operate only CW and digital modes. So
narrower filter must come because of jump from CW to FT8.
It would be nice to have this setting (at least have "0"), but rigs are
so different.
Perhaps update to man pages of rigctld could tell the meaning of "-1" (?)
Once again a feature that one just must get used to.

the passband value -1 id a special one meaning no change. I suspect
what is happening is that he rig is recalling the last used bandwidth
on the target band, this is normal behaviour for Icom rigs (and many
others). WSJT-X via Hamlib does not attempt to set the rig bandwidth
except in the case of some older rigs where the bandwidth is implicit
in a mode change CAT command.
