W10 sound is different to W7. If it's not working automatically and WSJT isn't seeing the rig soundcard then you may need to set it manually.

Go to Sound Settings and you will see the default sound devices.

Further down is an option to select the devices to use with various apps - select your rig with WSJT.

Don't forget rig has to be switched on, and it's nothing to do with the Kenwood driver.

The driver for the virtual serial port has been downloaded from a Kenwood site.
The driver for the soundcard of the 890 has been searched by Win7 itself after connected the rig to the PC. The behavior of Win10 was different - after connecting the rig to the PC nothing happened and no soundcard of the rig has been offered, neither a microphone or line input. Believe me, it's the first time I've heard about this problem in Win10...Donnerstag, 14 Oktober 2021, 08:19PM +02:00 von Bill Somerville [email protected]:

Hi Enrico,

the driver install is for the virtual serial port over the USB connection. Are you saying that no "USB audio codec" audio devices appear for you rig when you connect via USB and power on the rig? If that is the case then you probably need to take the matter up with Kenwood or Microsoft, WSJT-X requires working audio devices.

As I told before in Win7 everything works perfect.
It is a problem of the basic installation in Win10.
In Win7 when you connect the 890 a driver for the soundcard has been searched and installed from Win7 by itself - not in Win10...Donnerstag, 14 Oktober 2021, 08:01PM +02:00 von Bill Somerville [email protected]:

Hi Enrico,

have you followed the instructions in the TS-890S User Manual (page 1-4 in the English version) about setting the audio source input?

In WSJT-X "Settings->Radio" select "Mode-Data/Pkt" and "Tx Audio Source->Rear".

Dear Bill,
I connect the TS890S by USB (the B-connector).
Before connecting the Rig I installed the Kenwood driver.
Software is WSJT-X 2.5.0 64bit.
Same procedure on Win7 and Win10.
Win7 is working, Win 10 doesn't.

Dear friends,

I have problems to get the audio from the TS890S into Win10.
Kenwood driver installed, the right soundcard of the TS890 selected -
no tone.

Doing the same on a Win7/64bit-PC I had no problems and it works free
of errors.

Anybody who can give me a hint?

tnx in advance

Enrico, OE1EQW

Hi Enrico,

we need more information to address your query. How is your rig
connected to your PC for audio? Do you have a CAT connection? Which
application are you trying to run?
