Your information is correct, and it is the answer I was looking for.
"The FOX will only TX 3 times your report and then you are forgotten".
The answer is also described in point 19 of the Detailed Instructions for
Fox using the "3 strikes and you're out rule".
So there is a limit in time whereby my "R+rpt" message can be sent before
the QSO is aborted, and it doesn't make sense to pursue.
My apologies for not reading the manual in dept on this one.

?Can't see what software and version you are running with. Neither do I
know witch WSJT-X 3Y0J was running with. The FOX will only TX 3 your rpt
3 times and then your are forgotten and no matter how many times you are TX
R-xx rpt you'll never get a RR73. WSJT-X/JTDX will respond to a rpt from the
FOX 3 times before your WSJT-X stops TXing. But this is only if your
software is in HOUND Mode.
