Title: Self Employed Income Verification

Hi Richard,

We usually ask for a income tax return, and if they cannot produce one we deny the application. If they cannot provide one it usually means they are not paying any taxes, so therefore we deny the request. I also agree that if they are not being paid on the books, it might mean that they owe back child support. I hope some of this helps- Melissa in Denver

Subject: [WTW] Self Employed Income Verification

Hi All,

We recently received an inquiry for a Family Loan from an applicant that is self employed and is paid in cash.  Since we need to verify the applicant’s wages for both program eligibility and capacity for repayment, how is this handled when the applicant’s wages are undocumented?  Has anyone ever encountered this situation?  If so, can you please share your experience with our site?

Thank You in Advance

Richard Ruiz
