Tony,

Can't help with AGW under wine but then I've never liked AGW or thought much of it. To each his own.

What I did succeed in getting going under wine, and the relevance here is what I had to do to get it to install, was OTSDJ, a program used for radio station automation. For whatever reason, wine couldn't create registry entries so I exported the registry entry from a WinXP install and imported that into wine. If you intend trying this you must export the registry entry as a pre-WinXP format (Win95 or 98). XP format doesn't create a plain text file.

The tools to do this are in both Windoze - note the correct spelling :-) - and wine, for exporting/importing.

I need to point out that my fix for OTSDJ isn't a solution for a number of other apps I've tried, such as Winpack and Cool Edit Pro, which seem to have deeper issues -sigh!.

I share Curt's question about what Linux doesn't do. I can think of many things Windoze can't do that Linux does with ease, but I can't think of a single thing the other way around.

Has anybody got AGW running under WINE with Xastir ? I know this probably
sounds a bit odd but there is a point .

Ive been messing about with a HF TNC and Gating that to the Net. Ive also
got a AGW port on Xastir which is on another machine on the Lan connected to
2m.

Theres some interesting interactions between the ports that suprised me a
bit to say the least. But thats another story for another posting on here
yet to come.
