AGWPE on the otherhand "just works" For those portable occasions such
as WICEN exercises I have an OLD Toshiba lappy who's sole job is to
run UIview with AGWPE. and I might add, thats about all it's capable
of... BTW, runs HF packet just fine too.

For the former, you can do multiple AX.25 KISS ports with the Linux
kernel.
For the latter, there's "soundmodem" and "hfmodem".
