[Xastir] Connection & Map questions

Anyone out there connecting Xastir to a Kenwood TS-2000? I'm running 
Xastir on a Macmini running OS 10.5.8. I can get the serial port to 
connect but no packets ever show up in Xastir even though I can hear 
them coming in on the radio.

Can anyone recommend commercial street and or topo maps that will work 
with th Mac & Xastir?
