Remember that there is an OSM tile server (or more aptly) multiple tile servers out there, but the OSM data can also be had in shapefile format.
As for the excuse that OSM data is wrong, that doesn't hold water as the tiger data was happily consumed even though it too was wrong. As a matter of fact, I would defy anyone to find a "correct" map anywhere on the planet. OSM data can be consumed, and turned into a commercial product if so desired under the current license. The biggest licensing issue with the OSM product is on the ingestion side of things, they are always worried about the license associated with the incoming data, and there's never any noise made about the outgoing product. Lynn Deffenbaugh KJ4ERJ has created a new APRS client APRSISCE/32 (yeah, what a great name... even worse than XASTIR) that uses the OSM tiles for it's maps. http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/ James VE6SRV _______________________________________________ Xastir mailing list Xastir@lists.xastir.org http://lists.xastir.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/xastir
