You probably have an issue with your Tracker 3 settings, which have nothing to do with Xastir settings. If the TNC is keying the mic when Xastir says it wants to transmit, then Xastir has done its work. If you can't hear the tones it should be transmitting, you probably have the TNC's audio level set wrong, and will have to fix that. (note that the Tracker 2 required that one run a windows-only configuration program to get at this slider, and that program DID work under Wine on Linux --- not having a Tracker 3, I have no idea how one does this on that device).
