Conditions for skating were very good to excellent this afternoon (Thursday, March 1) on the EastSideTrail, and excellent on the WestSideTrail. Temperatures reached the mid to upper thirties, clouds prevailed, and sticky snow was noted only on a few sun-exposed hills. Most areas had a creamy surface that provided great edge control and very good glide. The striding track is in good shape on both the East and WestSideTrails, although a bit icy in some areas.
2½ inches of heavy snow Saturday morning were compressed by rolling the EastSideTrail. After another inch of snow Sunday morning, a striding track was set Sunday afternoon (February 25) on the EastSideTrail, and much of the EastSideTrail was groomed with a Tidd Tech Sunday. Grooming of the WestSideTrail was completed Monday, February 26 -- the skating lane on the WestSideTrail received touch-up grooming today (Thursday, March 1).
