I'd be interested to know if people would like to get mobile
alerts for time sensitive information such as the status of the
Elver Races.

If you have a device that can receive Internet text messages
(mobile alerts), would you like it to receive alerts from the
club? Such alerts would be limited to things like today's notice
of race cancellation. Please reply to me if you think you might
find this service useful (next season).

fyi: Recent models of most cell phones can receive text messages
or email from the Internet but the provider has to enable the
service. I know Verizon, & U.S. Cellular offer the service to
cell phone customers. It may cost you extra to enable it on your
existing cell phone (you could probably cancel it after the ski
season is over). U.S. Cellular has been charging $5/month. U.S.
Cellular describes the service as follows:

> Mobile Messaging
> . . . your friends and associates can send you e-mail
> on your wireless phone with our our Mobile Messaging
> feature.

I'd set this up so that only Ned and a designate would be able to
send alerts and these alerts would be automatically forwarded to
this list.

If such a thing is of interest to you, please reply to me. Based
on your response, I'll gauge the interest and come up with a
recommendation.

Cheers,

Joe
