Well, unlike last year, there is real interest in mobile race alerts -- what fun!

Mobile Alerts are apparently working for US Cellular Customers. It is my understanding and experience that this feature is included with most if not all US Cellular Plans and it costs nothing to receive mobile alerts. However, not all phones can receive text messages.

It should also be possible with other carriers but you should check with your carrier. Some carriers might charge for the service, again you'll need to check with them.

Here is how you can use the web to test your service and phone by sending yourself a message:

US Cellular:

Sprint PCS:

Verizon:

Cingular:

If you are able to send your US Cellular Phone a message, you can sign up now. All you have to do is send me your name and phone number in an email message. We will send messages only for MadNorSki race events and only on the day of the event, if needed. You'll still get all of the other notices via email.

If you are able to send your phone a text message using one of the links above and you are willing to get one or more test messages, send me your name, phone number, and phone email address (if applicable). With your help we should be able to work out how to send messages to almost any phone that supports text messaging.

See you tonight!

-joe
