Lanae -
I took a closer look at your screenshot to see if I could find any clues.
First, were you able to install this node before your xCAT upgrade, so you
know that your node definition is correct? Specifically, do you have the
correct MAC address for your eth2, and that nic is the one that is
connected to your xCAT management network?
If that is the correct mac, a couple of setting changes you might try:
chdef node1879 installnic=mac primarynic=mac interface=""
(that is the literal string 'mac', not the actual mac address)
Then a new nodeset/reboot or rinstall, whichever you were previously using.

node's console. I recently upgraded xCAT from 2.7x to 2.8.4.
We use
only diskful installs and Scientific Linux. I don't think
this is
caused by the upgrade though, I've tested other nodes
rinstall fine.
As for the upgrade, I have our osimage definitions set up,
but not
converted provmethod to the osimages yet.
I looked up the messages in the screenshot, but not making
sense of
it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, for where to look
within
xcat for the cause of this DHCP/xCAT issue. Also is there
anything
outside of xcat that we should look into, I'm not a network
expert
but I can pass the information to one.
