First of all, I was positively surprised to suddenly see nice fonts and what
seems to be a much improved interface compared to the previous (5.x series)
version of XCSoar that I was running. Whatever happened, things look really,
really good. Thanks!

I've been running into a few issues though. If you want me to file bugs in
Trac, let me know. All of these are with the Nov 8, 2010 version of XCSoar
6alpha.

- Is there a user-level change log? (An overview would do.)

- Sim: after selecting a new .xcm map file, XCSoar reloads everything, shows
the new map briefly, and then quits. (Do you need a log file? Does WM6 save a
stack trace somewhere?)

- Clicks on waypoints and airspace are difficult: only one out of maybe 5 tries
succeed. For waypoints, I believe it may be a matter of click location: using
the stylus, things work well. When I use a finger, I can often not get the
click registered. (This is a Dell Axim X51v running Win Mobile 6. I have
turned on an audio signal, so I know that the click is recognized by the
system.) Clicks on airspace also seem difficult - does one need to hold the
finger/stylus pressed for a little while?
All of this should be much more tolerant in order to work well with a finger
and in flight.

- The config->setup system->Site screen is confusing, especially in connection
with the terrain file generator:
a) The terrain generator is fantastic from a technical standpoint, but it
should make it easier for people to choose the right file format (XCM, not
ZIP). I downloaded a ZIP, extracted the contents, put them into my XCSoarData
directory and had no indication why this didn't work.
b) The Site screen is confusing because .XCM files seem to contain other files
(e.g., airspace.txt). When an XCM packet contains such information, then some
text in the other fields (e.g., Airspace 1/2) should make that clear. When
selecting a file, why does it not give an indication about which file
extensions are recognized? I had a really hard time finding out that it had to
be an .xcm.
c) The website's link to the terrain generator is broken
(http://www.xcsoar.org/download/. Terrain generator has been moved to
old.xcsoar.org!)
d) The explanations on the download page would be more intuitive if "Map file"
appeared big and bold, and all the other file types underneath.
e) The terrain generator gives me more options than I would want for XCSoar 6,
and in 2010. For instance, there are options to generate pictures of
waypoints, but they point out that the server behind it went dead a long time
ago.
f) I support ticket #519 (source of airspace data) - it would be nice if XCSoar
showed the date of the airspace data, and if the generator consistently added
comments at the top containing a date.

- A better method to change location in the Sim would be good (Ticket #199).

Thanks again for XCSoar!

- David
