Yes for goalup  the goal is always vertically above your glider on the
screen.

But if you fly cross track then the screen will obviously rotate. This
effect increases as you approach your goal. It can be annoying for  at the
last few Km. So having it change automatically to NorthUp or TrackUp as the
glider crosses the "near" distance can be a good idea. Also put a bit of
histeresis into the "near" value.

I would like to suggest  a new mode called LastUp. When the glider crosses
the near distance to a turnpoint,  the current orientation is preserved
until a new turnpoint is (automatically) selected.  This avoids the screen
orientation hopping at a critical moment in the flight.

Note this is all while on task. Prestart I tend ot use NorthUp
