The CAB will replace any previous CAB version of XCSoar.  Yes, it
should automatically use the existing configuration.  If not, submit a
bug report.

I never use the CAB installation, I always have half a dozen of EXE
versions installed, but on the other hand, I'm doing development, and
I test a lot of stuff while I fly.

It should be possible to switch seamlessly between 5.2.4 and 6.0, but
having a different profile file for each version just to be sure there
are no quirks may be a good idea.

Task files are different, that's right, but tasks are not saved in the
profile.
