Another cheap option is to buy an iPaq 310 PNA, which is available second-hand for $70-110 (and higher, of course) from eBay. My second one was just $30 without battery. It's important to get the original charger, and, for on-board power, use an OTC USB cable with pins 2,3 pulled to 3,3V (or so). The 310 is very hackable; the easiest setup is to boot directly into XCSoar off a 1 or 2GB SD card (rename XCSoar to celauncher.exe). It has a transflective high-resolution screen, is fast enough, comes with a built-in GPS, and one can turn the USB connection into a serial port. It will _not_ directly talk to low-baud rate devices such as the Volkslogger. A number of guys in my club have bought this and are happy with it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get a FREE DOWNLOAD! and learn more about uberSVN rich system, user administration capabilities and model configuration.
