Users reported that XCSoar 6 was running badly on old iPaqs (PPC2000/2002), while XCSoar 5 did fine. That however had little to do with the XCSoar version; the new map files are based on OpenStreetMap, and they are more detailed than before. Unfortunately, more details means more memory usage, so I had to disable some of the sub-files on PPC2000 (an internal blacklist), to reduce user frustration at the cost of having less details. Those ancient PDAs just can't cope with this huge amount of data. Only the file offsets consume several megabytes of main memory, and that is without any real data!
