It does not make any difference whether you call it "beta" or "release
candidate".  The idea is the same, and names are meaningless.

When we do a stable release (such as 6.3 last month), users have had
plenty of chance to test it before.  Nearly two months have passed
between the first 6.3 alpha release and the final version 6.3.
